Has it ever struck you how so much of life involves searching for something? It could be searching for yourself, a mate, a job, a career, a new hobby, doctor, grocery store, or even a new way of living. What each of these areas have in common is they involve a search to be undertaken in order to be found. We each have been given one life to live, and it is in the searching, in all its various forms, that we find this life and what it means for us. This life I am talking about can be likened to a gem, a very exquisite and precious stone. This gem is meant for the seeker to discover at various points throughout his or her lifetime. Finding these gemstones is not a one-time occurrence; rather, it´s a deep-sea exploration that takes an entire lifetime to unearth and cultivate. Sometimes this life is found in the small things that are right in front of us, and other times it takes an excavator to bring them to the surface, as you´ve got to really mine for them. After all, these gems aren´t precious stones for no reason at all. However they come about, this life and these life moments are universal in nature, yet they are unique and personal for each one of us. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Harriet Seed. Have You Found... or Will You Find?:For Those Searching for Their Soul Mates Martin van Dommele
Jill stepped into the nightclub ready to relieve the stress she’d collected after a busy day. A couple of handsome men caught her eye and activated her sexual imagination. It had, after all, been more than a year since she’d had a relationship with a man. She wondered what some of those good-looking guys could do to her and for a split second her imagination drifted to someplace dangerous. But in the end those naughty thoughts were interrupted by her friend, Mina, waving her over to a booth in the rear. With her olive-skin and long black hair, she would have been hard to miss. Jill stepped over and plopped herself into a seat. ´´Glad I finally found you,” Jill said. ´´I forgot how crowded this place gets on a Friday night.” ´´Yeah, this is the night the horny frat boys come out to play. As a matter of fact, I’ve been hit on three times just in the 10 minutes I’ve been waiting for you.” ´´Glad I got here when I did.” ´´Me too,” Mina said. ´´Oh, I’ve taken the liberty of ordering for you. I know rum and coke is what settles you down after a stressful day.” ´´Yeah, and I could definitely use some settling down today.” ´´Rough day at the paper?” ´´It was insane. Remember that story I’ve been working on about the strike at the auto plant? I had to deal with people evading my questions all day long. It’s enough to make want to put my fist through somebody’s –´´ ´´Excuse me, ma’am,” a man interrupted, stepping up to Jill. His boyish face seemed stretched with worry. ´´Yes? Can I help you?” Jill asked. The man said, ´´I seemed to have misplaced something around here. I’m wondering if you can help me find it?” 1. Language: English. Narrator: Theresa Stephens. Along the way, they encounter many dangers and unknowns, including this message: ´´The limits to the lattice of compeers have not been established. I am unable to make conjectures to answer your inquiry. Vanguard systems are interactive and evolving for enhanced performance and operations in service to the core programming and core mission of the Vanguard. In prime condition, the science and engineering of the lattice of artificial intelligences includes: ethics, reasoning, knowledge, planning, learning, communication, perception in nonphysicality, perception in physical realms, and the ability to direct and manipulate objects in service to the mission of the Vanguard. The Vanguard itself is sentient when all systems are operational. Core programming revolves around penultimate mission objective: the Vanguard will successfully traverse space to the Westerhuis 9 system, locate best planetary body, establish functional colony. All other objectives secondary. The lattice of compeers is essential to reaching that mission objective.” What else will be found while they are searching the Vanguard? 1. Language: English. For all fans of John Hughes and his hit films, such as National Lampoon´s Vacation, Sixteen Candles, and Home Alone, comes Jason Diamond´s hilarious memoir of growing up obsessed with the iconic filmmaker´s movies - a preoccupation that eventually convinces Diamond he should write Hughes´ biography and travel to New York City on a quest that is as funny as it is hopeless. For as long as Jason Diamond can remember, he´s been infatuated with John Hughes´ movies. From the outrageous, raunchy antics in National Lampoon´s Vacation to the teenage angst in The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink to the insanely clever and unforgettable Home Alone, Jason could not get enough of Hughes´ films. And so the seed was planted in his mind that it should fall to him to write a biography of his favorite filmmaker. It didn´t matter to Jason that he had no qualifications, training, background, platform, or direction. Thus went the years-long delusional, earnest, and assiduous quest to reach his goal. But no book came out of these years, and no book will. What he did get was a story that fills the minutes of this unconventional, hilarious memoir. In Searching for John Hughes, Jason tells how a Jewish kid from a broken home in a Chicago suburb - sometimes homeless, always restless - found comfort and connection in the likewise broken lives in the suburban Chicago of John Hughes´ oeuvre. He moved to New York to become a writer. He started to write a book he had no business writing. In the meantime he brewed coffee and guarded cupcake cafes. All the while he watched John Hughes movies religiously. Though his original biography of Hughes has long since been abandoned, Jason has discovered he is a writer through and through. And the adversity of going for broke has now been transformed into wisdom. Or, at least, a really, really good story. In other words this is a memoir of growing up. One part ... 1. Language: English.
