Searching for Spirituality in Higher Education:New
Searching for High-Frequency Trading Opportunities: Irene Aldridge
In this publication , journalist and adventurer Jason Mark travels beyond the bright lights and certainties of our cities to seek wildness wherever it survives. In Californias Point Reyes National Seashore, a battle over oyster farming and designated wilderness pits former allies against one another, as locals wonder whether wilderness should be untouched, farmed, or something in between. In Washingtons Cascade Mountains, a modern-day wild woman and her students learn to tan hides and start fires without matches, attempting to connect with a primal past out of reach for the rest of society. And in Colorados High Country, dark skies and clear air reveal a breathtaking expanse of stars, flawed only by the arc of a satellite passing-beauty interrupted by the traffic of a million conversations. These expeditions to the edges of civilizations grid show us that, although our notions of pristine nature may be shattering, the mystery of the wild still exists-and in fact, it is more crucial than ever.
The High And Deep Searching Out Of The Threefold Life Of Man Through Or According To The Three Principles: Jacob Boehme
In this volume, Richard Gilmore explores film as a channel through which to engage in philosophical reflection and analyzes the relationship between philosophy and film. This book argues that philosophy and film can and should be used for the amelioration of lifes difficulties and the promotion of lifes boons. Gilmore identifies how philosophy and film complement and enrich one another and explores their relationship by connecting classic wisdom texts to significant movies. For example, the volume analyzes the Coen brothers films The Big Lebowski and A Serious Man in light of The Book of Job . Gilmore considers the ancient idea of philosophy as spiritual exercise and a way of life. The volume concludes by examining what the author labels sublime conversations as the highest expression of philosophy. The book identifies and dissects these conversations in movies directed by the likes of Robert Bresson, Yasujir? Ozu, Jean-Luc Godard, and Ingmar Bergman, among others. Richard Gilmore is Professor and Chair of the Philosophy Department at Concordia College, USA. He is the author of Philosophical Health: Wittgensteins Method in Philosophical Investigations , Doing Philosophy at the Movies , and Postmodern Movies: Neo-Comic Tragedies, Neo-Noirs, Neo-Westerns .

This book presents the proceedings of the IVth Azores International Advanced School in Space Sciences entitled Asteroseismology and Exoplanets: Listening to the Stars and Searching for New Worlds. The school addressed the topics at the forefront of scientific research being conducted in the fields of asteroseismology and exoplanetary science, two fields of modern astrophysics that share many synergies and resources. These proceedings comprise the contributions from 18 invited lecturers, including both monographic presentations and a number of hands-on tutorials. Tiago L. Campante is a Research Scientist at the University of Göttingen (Germany). His main research interests are focused on asteroseismology and exoplanetary science. He devotes most of his time to the asteroseismic investigation of solar-type stars and red giants, having developed a special interest in the characterization of exoplanet-host stars. Dr. Campante has been an active contributor to the asteroseismic program of the NASA Kepler mission, having also previously contributed to the analysis of seismic targets observed by the CoRoT space mission and during ground-based, radial-velocity campaigns. He is currently engaged in the stellar science preparation work for the upcoming NASAs TESS and ESAs PLATO missions. Mário J. P. F. G. Monteiro current research interests focus on the study of the internal structure of solar-type stars using asteroseismology. These efforts cover convection and convective overshooting in other stars as well as in the Sun, and the seismic determination of stellar parameters for the study of stellar evolution from the pre-main sequence up to the more advanced stages of evolution. He is an Associate Professor at the Universidade do Porto, Coordinator of the FCT Doctoral Network for Space Sciences (PhD::SPACE) and the Portuguese Delegate do the Science Programme Committee at ESA. Nuno C. Santos is researcher at the Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço and professor at the Departamento de Física e Astronomia of the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto. His main research interests include the search for Extrasolar planets using radial-velocity and transit techniques, the study of the statistical properties of extrasolar planets and their host stars, and the use of high resolution stellar spectroscopy for the determination of stellar atmospheric parameters and abundances in solar-type stars. He the national Co-PI of the ESPRESSO project for a new high resolution ultra-stable spectrograph for the VLT, and board member of the CHEOPS and PLATO (ESA) missions.
