The Hindu yogis have always paid great attention to the science of breath, for reasons that will be apparent to the student who listens to this audiobook. Many Western writers have touched upon this phase of the yogi teachings, but we believe it has been reserved for the author of this work to give the Western student, in concise form and simple language, the underlying principles of the yogi science of breath, together with many of the favorite yogi breathing exercises and methods. We have given the Western idea as well as the Oriental, showing how one dovetails into the other. We have used the ordinary English terms, almost entirely, avoiding the Sanscrit terms, which are confusing to the average Western person. The first part of the audiobook is devoted to the physical phase of the science of breath; then the psychic and mental sides are considered, and finally, the spiritual side is touched upon. We may be pardoned if we express ourselves as pleased with our success in condensing so much yogi lore into such little space and by the use of words and terms that may be understood by anyone. Our only fear is that its very simplicity may cause some to pass it by as unworthy of attention, while they pass on their way searching for something ´´deep´´, mysterious, and not understandable. However, the Western mind is eminently practical, and we know it is only a matter of a short time before it will recognize the practicability of this work. We greet our students with our most profound saalam and bid them be seated for their first lesson in the yogi science of breath. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Arthur Rowan. Within each one of us there is a reservoir of divine wisdom - a seed of universal truth waiting to be discovered. The Kingdom of God, the Inner Light, the Buddha Nature, the Goddess within - every spiritual tradition has identified a direct personal connection to God and all that is sacred. In Touching the Divine, Wayne Muller offers a ´´model of heaven´´ (the original meaning of contemplate) to bring you in touch with the very center of your sacredness. In the great tradition of classical spiritual training, Muller´s wise voice guides you through a ´´circle of contemplations´´: meditations and reflections to help you find your true nature, cultivate lovingkindness, and live in simplicity and humility. It is inevitable, Muller begins, that you will come to a time in your life when you must go deeply inside to find out the truth of who you are. Often this time of deep searching emerges after a personal tragedy that suddenly ´´breaks you open´´. Muller teaches that this sorrow is also an opportunity to touch something miraculous and whole that is waiting to change your life from within. Touching the Divine invites you to enter the sanctuary of your self and surrender to the perfection already inside you. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Wayne Muller. One searcher´s honest and fascinating journey to encounter God, love others, and discover his true self through a year of spiritual practices. Frustrated and disillusioned with his life as a Christian motivational speaker, Michael Yankoski was determined to stop merely talking about living a life of faith and start experiencing it. The result was a year of focused engagement with spiritual practices - both ancient and modern - that fundamentally reshaped and revived his life. By contemplating apples for an hour before tasting them (attentiveness), eating on just $2.00 a day (simplicity), or writing letters of thanks (gratitude), Michael discovered a whole new vitality and depth through the intentional life. Guided by the voice of Father Solomon - a local monk - Yankoski´s Sacred Year slowly transforms his life. Both entertaining and profound, his story will resonate with those who wish to deepen their own committed faith as well as those who are searching - perhaps for the first time - for their own authentic encounter with the Divine. 1.
